Tutorials
These tutorials walk through common Meratyn workflows end to end. Each one is short, builds on the User Guide, and links back to the reference pages for the features it uses.
Before you start
- You can follow most tutorials directly in your browser at https://mappview.mapptech.com.co/ — nothing to install or run locally.
- A few steps need the desktop app: remembered native paths, local MBTiles and raster reads, and sidecar-only processing. Browser project files can still be opened and saved through a picker and download. Browser-capable raster, conversion, and Whitebox tools run in the web app where supported; each page calls out format and path limits. You can get installers from the Meratyn website.
- The sample dataset used in several tutorials is a pinned public GeoParquet file of world countries:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/opengeospatial/geoparquet/v1.1.0/examples/example.parquet.
The tutorials
| Tutorial | You will learn to |
|---|---|
| Your First Map | Add a layer, style it, inspect attributes, and save. |
| Writing Plugins | Build complex plugins: lifecycle, panels, layers, project state. |
| Cloud-Native Data | Load remote GeoParquet, FlatGeobuf, and COG, and convert local data. |
| Vector Analysis | Buffer and overlay layers, then export the result. |
| Terrain Analysis | Derive hillshade, slope, and contours from a DEM. |
| Spatial SQL | Query data with DuckDB Spatial and map the results. |
| Sharing & Embedding | Share a project and embed it in a web page. |
| Site Selection | Combine constraints and weighted criteria into a suitability surface. |
| Risk Assessment | Map flood-prone land and join it with exposed assets. |
| Asset Intelligence | Turn raw points into hexagon bins, density, and a dashboard. |
| Environmental Monitoring | Detect change between two dates of imagery. |
| Corridor Analysis | Connect fragmented habitats with least-cost paths. |
| LiDAR Feature Extraction | Classify a point cloud and extract buildings and trees. |
| Operational Planning | Plan service areas and vehicle routes on a network. |
| Story Maps & Publishing | Turn a finished analysis into a publishable story. |
