Starts a new project with a basemap and initial view, offering save options when unsaved changes exist.

Offers File, URL, and Gallery entries for opening projects, plus a separate Import submenu for QGIS and ArcGIS Pro maps. Gallery cards can open a published project or a detached copy; drag-and-drop still accepts exactly one .mappview or .meratyn.json file, while mixed or multiple project drops are rejected and a plain .json remains data.

Restores recently opened projects with name, date and location.
